Role Summary/Purpose: Working student position for 16-20 hours per week to create a virtual digital Lab tour for GE Global Research.
Essential Responsibilities: The technical editor will lead the implementation of a digital information system for the 14 laboratories at GE Global Research Munich. The purpose of this information system is to provide a virtual lab tour as a digital experience to visitors. The system should serve as a replacement and supplement for real physical lab tours. The system is supposed to be implemented as a kiosk version on touch screens and as a browser-based version on the intranet.

Your specific responsibilities will include:
  • Collaborate with engineers and researchers of the labs to identify, collect and create the necessary contents and media files (e.g. text, photos, info graphs, videos).
  • Edit and prepare the information for the digital environment
  • Design and implement an intuitive UI to ensure a positive user experience
  • Implement a kiosk version using professional tools (ex. Intuiface, Omnitabs)
  • Implement an online version based on HTML5
  • Work with the responsible communication departments to ensure compliance with GE branding guidelines.
  • Lead all required development phases until final production launch
  • Create all required documentation to ensure reliable operations and enable effective updates of the content
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Solid knowledge of the creation of digital experiences
  • Ability to understand and translate complex technical information into digital content
  • Familiarity with common IT project management practices
  • Experiences with digital development tools and HTML5
  • Proven skills in photography and video production
  • Good academic track record
